Roush 427-Powered Backdraft Racing Roadster P51 5-Speed

This Backdraft Racing Roadster P51 is finished in Ingot Silver with a Drab Green center stripe over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a Roush 427ci V8 linked with a Tremec TKO600 close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and a Traction Lok differential. Equipment includes Borla Induction Eight Stack fuel injection, big and tall seats, a dropped footbox, aircraft-style instrumentation, Sabelt harnesses, 18″ Halibrand-style pin drive wheels, four-wheel independent suspension, power steering, and Wilwood front disc brakes. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, this Cobra replica is now offered at no reserve in New York with spare parts, a Roadster Manual, and a clean Montana title describing the vehicle as a 1965 Backdraft Cobra-Replica.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Ingot Silver with a Drab Green center stripe, and exterior details include a matte black single roll hoop, windshield frame, quick-jack bumperettes, a LeMans-style fuel filler cap, fender vents, and side-exit exhaust pipes with perforated heat shields. P51-branded badges are fitted above the fender vents, and paint protection film is said to have been installed on areas of the body.
Black-finished 18″ Halibrand-style pin drive wheels are mounted with Nitto NT555 G2 tires measuring 245/40 up front and 295/40 out back. The car rides on coilovers with a four-wheel independent suspension, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers up front. A power steering system is equipped.
The big and tall bucket seats are trimmed in black leather with light gray Alcantara inserts and P-51 embroidery on the backrests. Interior appointments include a dropped footbox, Sabelt racing harnesses, Backdraft Racing pedals, a push-button ignition, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a cabin heater, and Backdraft Racing embroidered floormats.
The leather-wrapped Sabelt steering wheel fronts aircraft-style Classic Instruments gauges including a 200-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 1,500 miles.
The front-hinged hood opens to reveal a Roush Performance 427ci V8 fitted with a Borla Induction Eight Stack fuel injection system, a serpentine drive system, Ford Racing ignition wires, P-51-branded finned valve covers, and equal-length exhaust headers. The engine is said to output 560 horsepower.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO600 close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and a Traction Lok differential.
A build sheet notes that this vehicle is the only special edition example equipped with the selected options.
An identification tag affixed to the firewall identifies this car as a Backdraft Roadster that was assembled by TR-Tec in South Africa. The Montana title describes the car as a 1965 Backdraft Cobra-Replica using the VIN AE9BMAAH9K1MT1103, shown above.
