1997 Land Rover Defender 90 300Tdi 5-Speed
This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 three-door wagon was acquired in Germany in 2022 by the previous owner and is said to have been refurbished in Spain before being imported to the United States in November 2022, and it was sold on BaT in March 2023. Refurbishment work involved repainting the truck in blue, reupholstering the seats in black vinyl, resealing the 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four, overhauling the suspension and brakes, recalibrating the valvetrain and fuel injectors, and replacing the timing belt and pulleys, water pump, oil-cooling hoses, fuel lines, and clutch. The truck is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, full-time four-wheel drive, and a locking center differential as well as Sawtooth 16″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a lifted suspension, Terrafirma shocks, a Springalex steering wheel, a tablet-style head unit, rear jump seats, and aftermarket speakers. This left-hand-drive Defender is now offered by the selling dealer—a BaT Local Partner—with a clean Carfax report and a clean New York title.

The body was removed from the frame and repainted in blue with a black roof during the refurbishment. Equipment includes LED lighting, checker-plate trim, windshield vents, tubular side steps, a sunroof, sliding rear side windows, alpine windows, a tow ball, and a swing-out tire carrier. Paint-meter readings are provided in the photo gallery below, which also depicts scratches, chips, and other imperfections.

Black Sawtooth 16″ wheels are mounted with 235/85 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires, and a matching spare is secured to the rear of the truck beneath a soft cover. The truck rides on a lifted suspension with Terrafirma shocks. The four-wheel disc braking system features slotted and cross-drilled rotors and was overhauled during the refurbishment.

The cabin features three individual front seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl during the refurbishment. Dash-mounted cupholders, a tablet-style head unit, and aftermarket speakers have been added along with metal shift knobs for the transmission and center differential.

The Springalex steering wheel frames a 150-km/h speedometer and supplementary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 100k kilometers (~62k miles), approximately 200 kilometers of which have been added since the previous BaT auction.

The rear compartment features a diamond-plate rubber floor mat and four inward-facing jump seats that were reupholstered during the refurbishment, according to the previous BaT seller.

The 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four is fitted with blue Terrafirma coolant hoses. The valvetrain and the fuel injectors were recalibrated during the refurbishment, and the following components are said to have been replaced:
- Dayco timing belt
- Pulleys
- Water pump
- Front and rear crankshaft seals
- Valve-cover gasket
- Oil-cooling hoses
- Fuel hoses
- Exhaust pipe and silencer

Power is routed to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. The clutch was replaced during the refurbishment, and the frame was sandblasted and repainted.
The Carfax report is free of accidents and other damage.
