This 1987 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a European-market example that was refurbished before it was imported from the Netherlands to the US in 2023, and it was acquired by the seller on BaT in August 2024. Powered by a supercharged 1.8L 16-valve inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, the car is finished in blue over striped gray cloth upholstery. It also features 15″ BBS RS wheels, adjustable coilover suspension, disc brakes, a heater, Recaro bucket seats, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, upgraded engine components, and an aftermarket exhaust system. This Golf GTI is offered in New York by 1600veloce, a BaT Local Partner, with a spare set of steel wheels, a clean Carfax report, and a Texas title.

The car was refinished in Helios Blue Metallic approximately a decade ago. Exterior details include red pinstriping on the grille, bumpers, and bodyside moldings as well as a replacement front lip spoiler, a rear spoiler, a rear window wiper, 16V badging, wheel arch flares, quadruple headlights, and polished dual exhaust outlets. Modular 15″ BBS RS wheels with gold-finished centers are wrapped in 195/50 Hankook Ventus V2 concept2 tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and the suspension has been fitted with height-adjustable KW coilovers. The left-rear wheel bearing, steering rack boots, strut mount bushings, and control arm bushings were replaced in preparation for the sale.

The Recaro front seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in gray cloth with patterned inserts, and they are complemented by color-coordinated door panel inserts. Appointments include a cabin heater, crank windows, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, which includes medium and long wave frequencies in addition to FM. The seat sliders were replaced in February 2020.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, a digital clock, and a fuel level gauge. Gauges for voltage, boost pressure, and oil pressure are mounted at the base of the center stack. The odometer was reset during the refurbishment work and shows 8k kilometers (~4,800 miles), approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1.8L 16-valve inline-four is equipped with a supercharger and an intercooler sourced from a G60 model, and the engine was rebuilt and fitted with a replacement timing belt circa 2015. Additional work at that time is said to have included installing an aftermarket oil pump, a Scirocco KR intake manifold, G60 fuel injectors, and aftermarket exhaust headers. The fuel injectors were cleaned in August 2023, and work in preparation for the sale involved replacing the drive belt, fan switch, and exhaust hangers.

The five-speed manual transaxle was reportedly overhauled in 2016, and an NRC six-pad sintered sport clutch kit was installed in May 2017. The car is fitted with a Novus Automotive resonator and muffler, and additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
