Bid to USD $301,000 on 6/19/25

This 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is one of approximately 500 M-series examples built over a one-year production run. Chassis 01776 is noted to have been completed on March 23, 1971, before being delivered new to Motor S.A.S. di Carla Allegretti in Rome, Italy. Factory-finished in Blu Dino, it underwent a color change to red in 1977 before being imported to the US in 1985 and was subsequently acquired by the current owner in 1987. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors that is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Inside, Nero leather–trimmed seats are accompanied by a Famoso steering wheel, Veglia Borletti instrumentation, and a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. The car rides on an independent suspension and is further equipped with 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels fitted over ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. Work in preparation for the sale in 2025 has involved replacing the water pump as well as mounting Michelin XWX tires. This M-series 246 is now offered by the selling dealer with a prior Italian libretto, a Marcel Massini report, a jack kit, and transferable New York State registration listing the car as a 1972 model year.

The M series featured all steel body panels in lieu of the aluminum doors and trunk of the L series, while retaining its predecessor’s aluminum front hood. Door locks were relocated to a position below the side intake scoops, while the trunk release button of the L series was omitted.

The Scaglietti-built bodywork on this example is said to have been delivered from the factory in Blu Dino. It was first repainted in 1977 before being painted again in its current red finish in 1985, according to the selling dealer. European-market lighting includes flush front turn signal lenses, small round signal repeaters on the front fenders, amber rear turn signals, and the absence of rectangular rear reflectors. A single exterior mirror is affixed too the driver-side door glass, and further details include a roof-mounted antenna, split chrome bumpers, and quad polished exhaust outlets. Up close photos of flaws and bubbling in the paint are shown in the gallery.

The 14″ Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels wear Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with Michelin XWX tires measuring 205/70/14. A matching spare wheel is mounted in the front trunk. The suspension incorporates unequal-length A-arms, coilover shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars at front and rear. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted ventilated disc brakes all around. The brake fluid and tires were replaced in April 2025.

The five-digit odometer shows 3,300 kilometers (~2,100 miles), approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
