Roush 427R-Powered 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 5-Speed
This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was modified in the style of a Shelby GT350SR under prior ownership, and it is powered by a Roush 427R V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Finished in blue with silver stripes, the car rides on 17″ Shelby-style wheels with Heidts suspension components, coilovers, and Wilwood disc brakes. Additional equipment includes a 9″ rear end with a limited-slip differential, a Borla dual exhaust system, air conditioning, power steering, MSD ignition, AutoMeter gauges, and an XO Vision stereo. This Mustang was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025 and is now offered in New York with records and Connecticut registration.

The car has been repainted Caspian Blue with silver over-the-top and GT350 side stripes. It is equipped with a hood scoop, bullet-style side mirror, side intakes, hood pins, and faux pillar vents. Paint meter readings are provided in the gallery along with close-up images of imperfections.

The 17″ Shelby-style wheels are mounted with General G Max AS-07 tires measuring 235/45 up front and 275/40 out back and showing date codes from 2025. Stopping power is handled by Wilwood disc brakes, and the car features Heidts suspension components, coilovers, and rack and pinion steering.

The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Pony-style black vinyl. The air conditioning system was re-charged with R134a refrigerant in 2021, and an XO Vision stereo, drilled pedals, Roush door sills, and under dash lighting have been installed. The glovebox features a Carroll Shelby signature.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and fronts AutoMeter ProComp instrumentation, consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a column-mounted tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, which is not considered to be accurate.

The Roush 427R V8 was installed under prior ownership and features a Dart four-bolt main block, a 10.25:1 compression ratio, forged pistons, aluminum cylinder heads, and a double roller timing chain. The engine was rated by Roush Performance at 550 horsepower. An MSD ignition system has been added, and a replacement battery was installed by the selling dealer.

A Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission was installed in 2021 along with a McLeod clutch and a rebuilt 9″ rear end with a limited-slip differential. The dual Borla exhaust system incorporates tubular headers and an X-pipe, and it exits ahead of the rear axle.
