1961 Porsche 356B 1600S Roadster

This 1961 Porsche 356B roadster was sold new on July 3, 1961 at Morgensen Motors of Phoenix, Arizona, and it is finished in Heron Gray over red leather. Power is provided by a 1.6-liter Super flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and features include a black soft top, 15″ steel wheels, body-color bumpers, and front bucket seats. This 356B roadster is now offered in New York by the selling dealer with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, manufacturer’s literature, a car cover, prior registration cards, and a Pennsylvania title.

The T5 body was introduced for the 1960 model year with revised front-end styling, including raised bumpers and headlights along with a redesigned front trunk lid handle. This Drauz-built example came finished from the factory in Heron Gray (6007) and features a black soft top, a windshield washer system, a removable windshield frame, and body-color bumpers with chrome overriders. The 15″ vented steel wheels wear hubcaps with color crests and are mounted with 195/60 Michelin Premier A/S tires that show date codes from 2019. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner.

The front bucket seats were reupholstered in red leather in 2005, and interior appointments include lap belts, beige squareweave carpets, and a body-color painted dashboard.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles.

The 1.6-liter Super flat-four features dual carburetors and was rebuilt in 1989.
