1957 Mercedes-Benz 300Sc Einspritzmotor Roadster
This 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300Sc is one of 53 roadster examples manufactured between 1956 and 1958. The car was once owned by ex-Blue Angels pilot and television producer E. Duke Vincent and was refurbished prior to being acquired by the selling dealer in 2025. It is powered by a fuel-injected 3.0-liter M199 inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Tobacco Brown over cream leather. Equipment includes four-wheel independent suspension, 15″ steel wheels with hubcaps, driving lamps, a Becker Mexico radio, a tan convertible top, a rear bench seat, and a wood veneer dashboard. This W188 Einspritzmotor roadster is now offered in North Salem, New York, by the selling dealer with spare parts, literature, fitted luggage, a tool roll, and a clean California title.

A successor to the 300S, the 300Sc debuted in 1955 with a revised M199 engine, direct fuel injection, and a single-joint cross shaft axle with a low pivot. The hand-built sporting version of the four-door 300 series rode on a wheelbase 150mm shorter than the sedan variant. It was built in three configurations including a coupe, a cabriolet, a roadster, the latter of which featured a lighter, fully retractable soft top without the cabriolet’s coach bars.

This example left the factory finished in black and was refinished in Tobacco Brown as part of a refurbishment completed under prior ownership. The front of the car is accented by driving lights and a European-style “MB 300 Sc” number plate flanked by badges, and other exterior equipment includes a driver-side mirror, an antenna mounted in the right-front fender, gold pinstriping, “Einspritzmotor” badging, and a tan soft top. Exterior flaws and paint meter readings can be viewed in the photo gallery.

The 15″ steel wheels feature slotted chrome covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown wide-whitewall tires. The W188 models feature independent suspension up front with a swing axle out back and a front torsion bar. The brake system consists of vacuum-assisted finned drums all around.

The cabin houses individual front seats and a rear bench upholstered in cream leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include wood trim on the dashboard and doors as well as a Becker Mexico radio, front vent windows, door map pockets, an electric clock, and a heater.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a brown leather wrap and features a chrome horn ring. It frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 200-km/h speedometer, a column-mounted tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 36k kilometers (~22k miles), approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.0-liter M199 inline-six utilizes Bosch direct mechanical fuel injection and features dry-sump lubrication, an aluminum cylinder head mated to an angled block surface, and a single overhead camshaft. Output was factory rated at 175 horsepower.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

Fitted luggage, spare parts, a tool roll, and literature are included in the sale.
